Hurricane Dennis Update

Our yard is still flooded with waves breaking into the yard. Fence is sitll standing, and decking seems to be holding.

No idea how long this coastal flooding will last. We and one hurricane that was like this quite a few years ago, Fredrick I think it was.

Bad news for those with low lying houses, and I'm sure the wave action is not helping on erosion problems, including our own. It is scouring out our yard and probably wrecking the nice grass we had going.  Ratz.

Well, given how lucky we were about everything else, I'd best not bitch too loud.

Hurricane Dennis

Hi Majkia,

This is JoeyWood (Adventurewolf / Josetta). I wanted to let you know that I've been thinking about you and sending you lots of calming SFE -- both for you and for Dennis. I'm glad to hear that you're doing okay (wish it were better, but glad it isn't worse).

I think of you often. Hope you're doing well. I've been away from the den for a long time -- mostly because of time commitments. Am in the process of catching up and hope to be back in full swing soon. Life is settling in here. We're doing well now.

We're sending lots of love and hugs. Joey

Re: Hurricane Dennis

Hi Joey!

Glad to hear from you and even happier to hear you and yours are doing well.

We are in cleanup mode. Cable has been going in and out while they fix the land lines. We have been fortunate and haven't lost power for more than a few minutes at a time, but the street across the bayou lost power this moring around 2am and AFAIK still don't have it back. We loaned our generator to one of our friends over there.

Water is still in the yard but is receding. All in all, we were immensely fortunate.
My best wishes and *virtual chocolate and tipple of your choice*. Sometimes I forget how lucky we are in the UK when it comes to weather.
