Rapture ready!!!

For the first time in my Christian walk, I have no doubts that the day of the Lords appearing is upon us. I have never felt this way before, I have a joy that bubbles up every-time I think of him, for I know this is truly the time I have waited for so long. Am I alone in feeling guilty about the human suffering like my joy at his appearing some how fuels the evil I see everywhere. If it were not for the souls that hang in the balance and the horror that stalks man daily on this earth, my joy would be complete. For those of us who await his arrival know, somehow we just know it won't be long now, the Bridegroom cometh rather man is ready are not >>

How the hell has Christianity (any branch of it) become this sick and twisted?  Taking joy in war and destruction and seeing it as a sign that Jesus is coming back.

I'm amazed some of those posters even found the web, the thread is so illiterate.
The whole idea of the rapture is so utterly laughable...

Which is seriously too bad, because it couldn't come soon enough for me. "So long!" to Focus on the Family, the Christian Coalition, abstinence-only sex ed, radical Christian Right stuffing of legislatures, committees and school boards, gay marriage bans, abortion clinic bombings...etc etc etc. Not to mention, no more unemployment and housing shortages, due to the abrupt drop in population. Let them all be Raptured ASAP, and the rest of us can finally enjoy our vice ridden lives of tolerance, free speech, and progressive thought!

Hah! I'm with you! And we get their cars!

I've always wondered ...

what the reaction would be to all those 'enraptured' christianists when the Rapture comes and people like me, in all my science-fiction enriched, pagan-viewpointed, reality based, over-weight (because I actually eat food) unadorned (because I don't wear makeup to make me look 'beautiful') glorious person gets taken up and they are left to deal with what life is like after folk like me are gone...

I think it is lack of understanding of the history of that last book in the New Testament and reading it with a very literal perception ... who wrote it, when and why it was written and the circumstances under which it was written. They are looking at it as an indicator that 'the good times' are just around the corner - when as anybody who has watched this sort of behaviour in our close cousins (the great apes) just KNOWS! that what is coming around the corner is a banana skin.

I also find it sad how little knowledge of history shows there. How is this war different than .... oh, pretty much anything else that's happened since 1948?

Except that my hopes for peace have risen that many more times in the intervening wars, and been dashed.
