My Cranberry Conserve Recipe

1 12 oz bag of fresh cranberries (rinsed and picked over)

1 1/4 c sugar

1 c water

place in pot on high until boiling. Then turn down to low or medium-low and let simmer until cranberries burst. (can take a half hour or so)

add: ( in no particular order and any time in the cooking process)

1 tart apple, cored, peeled and diced.  I use Granny Smith

1 orange (add juice and the zest)

1 lemon  (add juice and the zest)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

cook on low/ medium-low until sauce begins to thicken.

Note:  This is a fairly tart recipe. If you want it sweeter, add more sugar (I've seen recipes use up to 1 3/4 cups of sugar).  Can also add raisins and/or chopped nuts after cooking if desired.

Cool and refrigerate if made ahead.
